About

Jennifer was born in Surrey, where she currently still lives. Art has always been an interest of Jennifer's and a college course in photography was a desire, however it never came to fruition as the costs were not able to be met.

Several years after leaving school and experiencing both the retail trade and financial services industry, she found herself with itchy feet looking to make a new career out of what she loves doing. Photography was the perfect choice.

Having never experienced a dark room or traditional film photography methods, her natural first choice for a camera went with the current trend for technology and she received a small compact Olympus digital camera as a gift from her husband.

Following the birth of her first child in 2006, regular nature walks pushing her newborn in the pushchair resulted in hundreds of pictures being taken; it became clear that this wasn't just a hobby but a real passion.

The trustee compact camera was great, however it had its limitations, it was time to purchase her first digital slr. Having browsed the virtual market online and getting a feel for the shortlist of camera's in store, she ultimately made a familiar choice in an Olympus E500 with twin lens kit.

This opened up whole new world of photography - Aperture priority, shutter priority, manual mode, macro, white balance, metering; it seemed endless and all a bit mind boggling.

It was time to seek some help. A collection of photography books began including Digital Photography Handbook, Lighting Techniques, Vision & Style, Closeup Shooting, Black and White. Reading these books was hugely rewarding, however her new found passion and hunger for a photographic education drove her to seek a recognised qualification. The Institute of Professional Photographers offered the perfect opportunity, providing her with the expert tuition and guidance required.

The course is currently ongoing; progress is updated regularly on the news pages. It was the hope that the Diploma would be completed by the close of 2009, but unfortunately fate had other plans when Jennifer suffered health problems. Now recovered and going from strength to strength, the completion of her Diploma is top of her list.

Having not yet found her 'niche', she is enjoying experimenting with all different types of photography.

Jennifer is always looking for new material for her expanding portfolio and welcomes a challenge, so ask her and she may just be the photographer for you.
